From Steel Plates to 10,000-Ton Vessels! HGTECH Builds China’s First Full-Process Intelligent Shipbuilding Factory

Recently, China’s first full-process intelligent shipbuilding factory broke ground in Weihai.

Jointly developed by HGTECH and a well-known enterprise, the project pioneers a new path of intelligent transformation across the entire value chain of marine vessel manufacturing — from design and production to management.
 
A delegation from the well-known enterprise recently visited HGTECH’s Intelligent Manufacturing Equipment Industrial Park and Future City Campus to gain firsthand insight into the latest innovations in a range of high-end intelligent equipment, including advanced laser cutting systems, laser cleaning machines, automatic marking machines, and laser hybrid welding systems.

 

 

The “Digital, Green, and Intelligent Workshop” project undertaken by HGTECH adopts 5G and Industrial Internet technologies. It features a comprehensive range of high-end digitalized production lines, including an intelligent steel plate warehouse, intelligent cutting and sorting line, sub-assembly intelligent production line, flat panel to block intelligent production line, T-beam intelligent line, intelligent profile pretreatment line, and digitalized control systems.

 

Through a central control system, these intelligent devices and production lines are interconnected, forming an integrated network. This enables fully automated production processes such as automatic loading and unloading, cutting, sorting, tack welding, automatic welding, and logistics distribution.

 

Four Key Technological Highlights

End-to-End Automated Production:From the intelligent steel plate warehouse to segmented production lines, the entire process from raw plate to segmented welding is fully automated — significantly enhancing efficiency and process consistency.

 

Laser Welding: Enhanced Quality and Efficiency:Technological upgrades enable ultra-fast laser welding at speeds up to 2.3 meters per minute, delivering exponential improvements in efficiency while maintaining stable and reliable weld quality.

 

High-Speed Keel (Longitudinal) Positioning System:By integrating an automatic keel feeding system with an electromagnetic gantry for intelligent grabbing and positioning, the assembly and welding cycle is over three times faster than manual operations, ensuring precise and rapid alignment. 

 

Intelligent Segment Welding System:With offline programming software and laser sensing technology, the system drastically reduces weld path debugging time, improving both automation efficiency and production flexibility.
